Role

The primary role of the Quality Manager is to verify, by monitoring activity in the fields of Flight Operations, maintenance, crew training and ground operations, that the standards required by the regulatory authority and additional requirements defined by the airline are being complied with under the supervision of nominated Post Holders. He/she is responsible for ensuring that the quality assurance program is properly established, implemented and maintained. He/she reports to the Accountable Manager and as a post holder is subject to approval by the regulatory authority.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage the Quality Department as an independent system in the organization.
  • Be a custodian and retain records of scheduled and special audit reports, responses to findings or concerns, corrective plans submitted in response to findings, periodic reports of internal trends for a minimum period as specified in the regulations.
  • Perform quality surveillance on the organization system (including contracted organizations), to ensure conformity and compliance with applicable CAA regulation, identifies deficiencies and non-compliances and requests remedial actions by the responsible persons.
  • Ensure that corrective actions necessary for the elimination of non-compliance are initiated and completed.
  • Establish the quality assurance criteria and implement the relevant auditing plans embracing departmental activities and operations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Promote quality concepts through out the organization and encourage commitment from all employees and management staffs.
  • Define and negotiate with suppliers and contracted organization on the quality requirements organization.
  • Audit suppliers and contracted organizations on works, products and ensure compliance with the organization quality standards.
  • Be responsible for revision and amendments of manuals and notifying the authority of any changes there to.
  • Be the contact person between the organization and the authority.
  • Advise management and staff on quality system matters of the organization.
  • Prepare and Generate periodic reports on Organizations quality system trends.

 Qualifications and Competencies

  • Must be Technically qualified in the field of aircraft maintenance, or flight or ground operations.
  • At least five years’ work experience in a similar position in maintenance, flight or ground operations
  • Must have successfully completed training in quality management recognized and accepted by the Uganda CAA.
  • Being a member of a professional body is an added advantage.
